Colacassia Roast--- (Seppankizhangu Varuval)

My sister and me used to enjoy this amazing dish made by my mother. Seppankizhangu varuval with Vatta Kozhambu was a staple menu on Sundays and we simply dug in to the fare forgetting the calories tucked in.This dish is very simple to make but packs in such mouth watering taste !!!!

Ingredients:-
  • Colacassia--- 1/2 kg
  • Red Chilli Powder ( as per your taste)
  • Gram Flour/Besan ( a big spoon or two -- this ensures non sticky quality and crispiness )
  • Salt (as per your taste)
  • Turmeric Powder ( a pinch)
  • Oil (3-4 tbsp)
  • Mustard, Urad Dal (little of each)
Procedure:-

Wash and Pressure cook the vegetable. Now Peel the skin and cut it in to half (if it is big in size) and set aside. In a wok add oil and allow the mustard and urad dal to splutter. Now add a pinch of turmeric powder and the cut vegetables and saute for few minutes. Add Salt, Red Chilli Powder, Besan and a little oil and mix them well. Now on low heat allow it to roast. The more it is on low flame the more crunchier and crispier it becomes. Enjoy the varuval with rice !!!
